A teacher who cares

¡Hola! Soy Gaby, or profe Gaby, or Ms. please help me!

I'm an experienced teacher, examiner, and Spanish educator.

The basics

Me llamo Gabriela Ledesma Autóctona de Ecuador, nacionalizada en la madre patria, de aquí, de allá y de todos lados.

If you didn’t understand what I just wrote, you should definitely take some classes with me.

And yes, ¡Madre mía! We Hispanic people have loooong names (but you should understand why and use them as a cultural link).

Some cool things about me

  • Being an examiner has given me invaluable insight into the IB program. While IB is fundamentally about learning, it’s equally about mastering the skills needed to achieve top scores. I am here to support and guide you throughout that journey. Over the past five years, the vast majority of my students have consistently earned top marks.

  • I hold three university degrees: an M.A. in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, an M.A. in European Studies (Management of EU Projects), and a B.A. in Advertising and Public Relations. Considering that I am not exactly the academic type, I strongly believe my real skill lies in developing effective strategies to pass exams.

  • Since 2013, I have worked as a professional Spanish teacher. Prior to that, my career included roles in clerical support, real estate, marketing, and reporting, along with an unofficial position as the go-to person for correcting everyone’s language errors.

  • I specialize in teaching IB Spanish (Ab Initio, Standard Level, and Higher Level). After teaching Spanish to primary, secondary, and adult learners, I fell in love with the IB program. I particularly enjoy teaching the IB Diploma Programme because it’s the only time when students are as committed and engaged.

Learn and have fun

  • Latin American Spanish or Spanish from Spain? Vosotros or ustedes? Whether you say “Barthelona” or “Barselona,” it doesn’t really matter. I was born and raised in Latin America but have spent more than half of my life living abroad, especially in Spain. What truly matters is that I can help you understand and translate songs by Bad Bunny and Rosalía.

  • I love to travel. Who doesn’t? But do you know anyone who has hitchhiked from Madrid to Russia? Rode a camel across wild Mongolia? Endured 17 hours on a Chinese train without an assigned seat? Or danced at the Brazilian Carnival? If the answer is no, you’re just one click away from changing that—and only two clicks away from joining a trip organized by me. 😉 I teach Spanish but also organize tailor-made tours and related services.

I want you to learn—but more importantly, I want you to enjoy the whole experience.
